Wake Forest & Wake County to offer free “Hot Car Safety for Kids & Pets” event July 15
The Town of Wake Forest and Wake County are partnering to host a “Hot Car Safety for Kids & Pets” event on Tuesday, July 15, from noon-3 p.m. at the Northern Regional Center, 350 E. Holding Ave.
Community members are invited to attend the free event to view a hot car demonstration and witness how fast temperatures rise inside a parked car - even with the windows cracked. Learn why even “just a few minutes” can be deadly for children and pets.
The event will also include:
Car seat safety checks: Make sure your child's car seat is installed correctly by certified technicians.
Pet safety tips: Talk with Wake County Animal Services about keeping pets safe in the heat.
Family Resources: Grab free summer safety materials and connect with local health and safety partners.
Attendees will also be able to chat with representatives from Wake County Public Health, Wake County Animal Services, Wake EMS, Wake Forest Police, and Wake Forest Fire.
In case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled for Tuesday, July 22. For more information, visit www.wake.gov/events/hot-car-safety-event.
Anyone who is unable to attend the July 15 event but would like assistance installing their child’s safety seat can set up an appointment by calling the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-554-6150.
