Parks & Facilities

 

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department manages 561 acres of parks, open space, natural land and trails. This includes five baseball/softball fields, three soccer fields, one pool, six picnic areas, eight playgrounds, eight lighted tennis courts, Flaherty Dog Park, the Wake Forest Community HouseFlaherty Park Community Center, the Alston-Massenburg Center, and more than 50 miles of developed and undeveloped greenway trails

 

Ailey Young Park

Located at 800 E. Juniper Ave., Ailey Young Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • baseball field

  • basketball courts

  • playground

  • picnic tables

  • charcoal grills

Alston-Massenburg Center

Located at 416 N. Taylor St., the Alston-Massenburg Center offers the following amenities and features:

  • large meeting space with performance stage, theater curtains, automated projector and screen

  • two small meeting rooms

  • kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, double sink, (stove/oven not for use)

  • interior and exterior restrooms

  • 24 folding tables (6ft)

  • 125 chairs (approx.)

  • 1 podium

  • 1 drinking fountain

E. Carroll Joyner Park

Located at 701 Harris Road, E. Carroll Joyner Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • Restored Farm Buildings

  • Pecan Grove

  • 1,000-Lawn-Seat Amphitheater

  • Walker Garden

  • Performance Garden

  • 2,000 Linear Foot Stone Ribbon Wall

  • Three Miles of Paved Walking Trails

  • Charcoal grills

  • Fishing

 

Flaherty Dog Park

Located at 1100 N. White St., Flaherty Dog Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • Five-foot high chain link fence, paved entrance and double gated entry

  • Grass cover

  • Picnic tables

  • Water stations

  • Posted rules of conduct

  • Pet cleanup stations

Flaherty Park

Located at 1226 N. White St., Flaherty Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • 100-acre park

 

  • playground with slides and swings

  • three lighted baseball and softball fields

  • restrooms

  • picnic shelter

  • two ponds - bank fishing is allowed with proper permits and licenses

  • four lighted pickleball courts

  • four lighted tennis courts

Flaherty Park Community Center

Located at 1226 N. White St., Flaherty Park Community Center offers the following amenities and features:

  • regulation high school gymnasium

  • arts & crafts room

  • game room

  • meeting room with small kitchen

Heritage High School Park

Located at 1150 Forestville Road, Heritage High School Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • two multi-purpose/soccer fields

  • two baseball/softball fields

  • six tennis courts (lighted)

  • restroom facility

Holding Park

Located at 133 W. Owen Ave., Holding Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • five-acre site houses the Wake Forest Community House and Holding Park Aquatic Center

  • playground featuring five slides and swings

  • picnic tables

  • charcoal grills

  • basketball court

Holding Park Aquatic Center

Located at 133 W. Owen Ave., the Holding Park Aquatic Center offers the following amenities and features:

  • Six-lane, 25-yard lap pool

  • Two water slides with plunge pool

  • Children's pool with water play

  • Concession Stand

Joyner Park Community Center

Joyner Park Community Center is located at 701 Harris Road. 

Designed to blend in with current Joyner Park structures and the natural habitat, the 32,000-square-foot facility features a walking track, gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, multi-purpose rooms, dance studio and kitchen.

The facility has been constructed in a manner consistent with the park's natural beauty and rustic feel.

Kiwanis Park

Located at 400 E. Holding Ave., Kiwanis Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • one-acre park

  • adjacent to the Wake Forest Public Library

  • playground, including several pieces of equipment designed for children with special needs

  • picnic shelter

  • paved greenway trail

Miller Park

Located at 401 Elm Avenue, Miller Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • two-acre wooded park

  • located behind the Wake Forest Town Hall

  • picnic tables

  • paved trails

Plummer Park

Located at 965 Jones Wynd, Plummer Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • half-acre park

  • located within the Crenshaw Manor subdivision

  • playground

  • picnic shelter

  • picnic tables

Smith Creek Soccer Center

Located at 690 Heritage Lake Road, Smith Creek Soccer Center offers the following amenities and features:

  • 17-acre facility

  • three full-size soccer fields

  • playground

  • picnic shelter

  • picnic tables

  • charcoal grills

Taylor Street Park

Located at 416 N. Taylor St., Taylor Street Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • one and one-half acre park houses the Alston-Massenburg Center

  • playground offering tot swings, a sand box with excavators, X-Wave, spiral slide, children's swings, and green areas

  • picnic shelter

  • picnic tables

  • charcoal grills

Taylor Street Park Sprayground

Taylor Street Park Sprayground is a dynamic, zero-depth aquatic play area that provides endless hours of fun for the entire family. The sprayground combines the sensations of different water movements—flowing, misting, and jetting—with diverse features for an unequaled aquatic play adventure.

Tyler Run Park

Located at 830 Pineview Dr., Tyler Run Park offers the following amenities and features:

  • nine-acre park

  • baseball field

  • batting cage

  • basketball court

  • playground designed specifically for children ages 2-5

  • bocce ball court

  • picnic tables

  • greenway trail

Wake Forest Community House

Located at 133 W. Owen Ave., the Wake Forest Community House offers the following amenities and features:

  • large meeting room

  • kitchen, including microwave, refrigerator and sink

  • restrooms

  • 23 aluminum folding tables (6ft)

  • 170 chairs (approx.)

  • 1 wood podium

  • 3 drinking fountains

  • adjacent to Holding Park

  • adjacent to R.H. Forrest Field

  • situated in front of Holding Park Pool

Park Reminders

All parks are open daily from dawn to dusk.

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Smoking is limited to parking areas only.

Use of personal grills (gas and/or charcoal) is prohibited.

Dogs must be on a leash. Also, please clean up after your dog. Dog waste receptacles and bags are provided throughout our parks.
