The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is committed to improving the health and fitness of our entire community. The department offers a variety of programs designed to encourage both children and adults to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle. New and exciting programs will be introduced in the coming months.

Healthy Snacks Initiative
When it's your turn to bring snacks for the team, it can be tough to decide which options are the best and healthiest. We encourage and support healthy snacks and water use among youth athletic programs offered by the town. Here are a few tips to help you find tasty and healthy snacks the whole team can enjoy.

 

 

Recent PRCR Health & Fitness Initiatives

  • PRCR recently removed soft drinks from vending machine at Flaherty Park Community Center

  • PRCR added water to its vending machine at Park Maintenance Facility

  • PRCR staff and the Recreation Advisory Board created Healthy Snack Resolution - Nov. 17, 2015

  • Healthy concessions to be introduced at Holding Park Pool - Beginning in 2016, 50% of concessions choices will be healthy items

  • Free Community Walking Club, 6 pm, Wednesdays in May at Joyner Park

  • New outdoor Zumba class on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:15-10:15 am
