Public Works Week

Public Works WeekThe Town of Wake Forest will join more than 30,000 cities and towns across the U.S. and Canada in celebrating Public Works Week May 17-23. But as our way of honoring the contributions our Public Works Department makes to our community every day, we are inviting Wake Forest residents to help us celebrate throughout May.

As part of our month-long celebration, Wake Forest families are invited to share photos, drawings, and letters that illustrate or express their appreciation for our Public Works Department. Submissions may include photos of kids dressed as their favorite public works employee, drawings that illustrate the value of public works and its contribution to our quality of life, and letters of gratitude. Any creative way of showing appreciation for the efforts of our Public Works personnel will be accepted.

You can share your submissions through our online form.

Honoring Public Works every week in May

Each week in May, we will spotlight on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Nextdoor) different divisions within our Public Works Department according to the following schedule:

May 4-8 - Wake Forest Power & Urban Forestry

During the week of May 4, we will celebrate Wake Forest Power and the Urban Forestry division. These are the crews who keep our lights on and care for our trees. Help us say thank you for all they do!

May 11-15 - Environmental Services (Trash & Recycling, Yard Waste, Bulk Waste) & Administration

Join us in celebrating Environmental Services and Administrative staff. These crews handle our solid waste program and keep everything running smoothly. Help us say thank you for all they do!

May 18-22 - National Public Works Week / Special Appreciation Week

It’s officially National Public Works Week (#NPWW). Throughout the week, we’ll post on the Town of Wake Forest Facebook page the appreciation photos, drawings and letters we’ve received and upload them to our online photo gallery. We also invite you to post your pictures on social media and use the hashtag #NPWW.

May 25-29 - Streets, Engineering & Fleet

We will conclude our month-long celebration by recognizing the work of our Streets, Engineering and Fleet Maintenance staff. These crews maintain our streets, oversee roadway projects and service Town vehicles. Help us say thank you for all they do!
