Divisions and Units
Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is responsible for responding to all calls for service, as well as enforcing motor vehicle law, investigating motor vehicle accidents, serving criminal summons and arrest warrants, and patrolling commercial and residential areas.
Support Services Division
The Support Services Division is comprised of the Recruitment and Training Units.
Criminal Investigation Division
The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is responsible for conducting investigations on all types of criminal activity. The cases they receive may originate from a report completed within the department as well as any self-initiated activity by a detective. The investigative division is also responsible for conducting background investigations for new employees and internal affairs investigations.
K-9 Unit
Created in 1997, the Wake Forest Police Department's K-9 Unit currently consists of two K-9 teams and is supervised by Lt. T. Lairmore.
Tactical Service Unit
The Tactical Service Unit is a part-time tactical unit trained and equipped to respond to critical incidents.
Communications Center
The telecommunicators of the police department's Communications Center strive to collect and disseminate all requests for service in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner for all customers. Their actions help save lives, protect property, and assist the public in their time of need.
Impact Division
The Impact Division utilizes its specialized training and other aspects of police work to combat criminal activity and to prevent, locate and apprehend individuals that compromise the safety, security, and well-being of the citizens of Wake Forest through the commission of criminal acts.
