Battle in the Forest - Esports Gaming Tournament Saturday, Sept. 19
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department will host an online Esports gaming tournament featuring the game "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Presented by Brightspeed Fiber Internet(opens in a new tab), the Battle in the Forest is open to players ages 10 and older. The online tournament is free to enter and will be live streamed on Twitch.tv.
Registration is open through Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Tourney Format
Participants will compete in a one-on-one, single-day, double-elimination tournament to run in conjunction with "Bull City Gaming.” The matches will be best of three, while the championship match will be best of five.
In the event more than 32 participants register, the tournament will expand to two days with the qualifying rounds taking place on September 19 and the top eight participants battling it out in the finals on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Prizes & Prize Drawing
The first-place winner will take home a new Nintendo Switch 2 console, while the second-place finisher will receive an 8BitDo Arcade Fighting Stick for the Nintendo Switch. Our third-place finisher will receive a Wireless LED Nintendo Switch controller, and as an added bonus, all participants will be entered into our incentive prize drawing for an official Battle in the Forest t-shirt. The top three winners will also receive an Esports scholarship from Barton College Esports.
