UPDATE: Police searching for armed subject wanted in connection with Durham Road stabbing

Michael KeelingWake Forest Police have arrested Michael W. Keeling, 29, in connection with yesterday’s stabbing along the 600 block of Durham Road. A photo of Mr. Keeling is shown right.

A resident of Randleman, NC, Keeling has several outstanding warrants, including a probation/parole violation.

Keeling will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, attempted armed robbery, second degree kidnapping, and breaking and entering. Additional charges related to the initial traffic stop may be forthcoming.

Wake Forest Police Chief Jeff Leonard wishes to thank area citizens for their invaluable assistance over the past two days.

“We received several phone calls and tips from residents who came into contact with the subject,” said Chief Leonard. “Mr. Keeling’s capture is a direct result of their willingness to work with us. Thanks to their efforts and the tireless efforts of our officers, our community is a safer place now that he’s in custody.”

Wake Forest Police are continuing to search for the man who stabbed a woman Monday afternoon along the 600 block of Durham Road.

According to police, the subject is described as a man between 25 and 35 years old, medium build, 5’6” to 6’ tall, light-colored hair, some facial hair, and randomly placed tattoos on his arms and torso. At the time of the incident, the suspect was shirtless and wearing dark shorts.

The man is considered armed and dangerous. Police officials say they are unsure if he is still in the area, so residents are urged to remain vigilant and lock their doors.

Anyone with information about the crime or the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to call 9-1-1. You may remain anonymous.

The information below was distributed Monday, June 21, at 6:41 p.m.:

At 3:05 p.m. Wake Forest Police officers conducted a traffic stop at the Market Shopping Center, located along the 12000 block of Capital Boulevard/US 1. A white male fled on foot.

Less than one hour later, at 3:54 p.m., officers responded to a reported stabbing along the 600 block of Durham Road. Upon arrival, officers located a female who had been stabbed. During the subsequent investigation, officers learned the female was stabbed by a white male who they believe unsuccessfully attempted to steal her vehicle. The female was transported to a local treatment facility. Her condition is unknown.

Wake Forest Police believe the two incidents are related and are now searching for a white male who is either shirtless or wearing a white tank top and black shorts.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

Area residents are urged to lock their doors and call 9-1-1 if they see anything suspicious.
