Traffic Alert - Burlington Mills Road

Thursday, January 19, 2017 - 10:25am

Starting today drivers should expect periodic, daytime delays along Burlington Mills Road between One World Way and Ligon Mill Road. A private contractor has started construction on a new subdivision - The Preserve at Kitchin Farms - which is expected to continue over the next several months.

Although no lane closures are planned at this time, Brinley's Grading may initiate intermittent traffic stops in order to allow construction vehicles to safely enter or exit the construction site.

The Town of Wake Forest provides this information as a public service. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through the work area. Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, town staff works with contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution, and obey flaggers at all times. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers are also urged to double their following distances.
