Traffic Alert – Forestville Road

Drivers should expect delays along Forestville Road in the vicinity of the Rogers Road intersection Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 3 a.m.-noon and Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 8 a.m.-noon. During these times, Town crews will close a southbound lane and the center turn lane along the portion of Forestville Road from Rogers Road to Rogers Branch Road. The lane closures are necessary so crews can safely install a concrete median as part of NCDOT’s Forestville Road Access Improvements Project.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the work area. Significant delays are expected, so motorists are urged to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

Accessible under “Common Resources” on the homepage of the Town website, the Traffic Alerts Map allows visitors to point and click on current road and lane closures throughout Wake Forest. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through work areas.

Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work. Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, town staff works with contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.

When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution, and obey flaggers. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers are also urged to double their following distances.
