Notice of public information session & telephone comments CALEA Accreditation On-Site Assessment

Thursday, December 2, 2021 - 3:30pm

The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) is scheduled for a virtual on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards. Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As a part of the virtual assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at 4 p.m. in the Wake Forest Town Hall Ground Floor Meeting Room, 301 S. Brooks St. Due to COVID-19, the public information session will be conducted with CALEA Assessors via Zoom.

Agency personnel and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling 919-435-9595 on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m. Comments will be taken by a CALEA Assessor.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address WFPD’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the WFPD’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may email comments directly to the Commission at [email protected], placing Wake Forest PD in the subject line of the email. Written comments may also be mailed to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155.
