Still time to donate to Police Department Turkey Drive
The Wake Forest Police Department’s annual Turkey Drive got underway in September, and while donations have been steady, the campaign organizer says he hopes they will accelerate over the final few weeks.
“Our community is quite generous, so donations have been coming in pretty consistently,” said Det. M.W. Sattler. “Still, things usually pick up in November, so we’re hoping for the same this year.”
The police department will accept monetary contributions through Saturday, Nov. 23. Area residents can support this worthy cause by submitting online donations via PayPal at http://bit.ly/2019TurkeyDrive.
Cash and checks written to the Wake Forest Police Department are also accepted. Anyone wishing to contribute cash or a check to this year’s Turkey Drive should contact Det. Sattler at 919-795-7270 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
All monetary donations will be used to purchase additional turkeys.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the police department will accept monetary donations and donations of frozen turkeys at the Wake Forest Police Department Main Station, 225 S. Taylor St., from 9 a.m.-noon.
The police department will then distribute the turkeys while they last on Monday, Nov. 25, from 9-11 a.m., at the Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave.
Det. Sattler organized the police department’s first Turkey Drive in 2007. Since then, the department has distributed nearly 8,000 turkeys to needy families in our area, including over 800 turkeys last year.
