Freedom Walk to highlight Saturday’s Juneteenth Celebration

The Northeast Community Coalition will host Wake Forest’s 2022 Juneteenth Celebration, this Saturday, June 18, at The Dubois Center, 518 N. Franklin St.

Free and open to the public, the event will officially get underway at 11:15 a.m. with a “Freedom Walk” that begins and ends at The Dubois Center. Anyone wishing to participate is encouraged to begin assembling at 11 a.m. The Freedom Walk is scheduled to end at noon.

Following the Freedom Walk, the family-friendly celebration will continue until 3:30 p.m. with a variety of free food, music, and giveaways.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. The occasion celebrates African American freedom and achievement, while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures.
