PRCR seeking variety of youth & adult recreation instructors

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is recruiting recreation instructors for a variety of youth and adult programming.

PRCR is especially in need of the following program instructors: infant/toddler American Sign Language (ASL); preschool (ages 5 and under) music and Spanish; youth cheerleading; senior dance/Zumba/yoga; adult and youth art and cooking; and REFIT certified. Special Needs yoga/exercise, cooking, art, and life skills/job readiness instructors are also needed.

Wake Forest PRCR offers an array of year-round recreation classes and activities. Many are the result of a local enthusiast expressing a desire to teach a program on their particular topic of interest.

“We offer a wide variety of classes, activities, and events that meet the diverse needs and interests of our community,” said Specialized Programs Specialist Kelly Schurtz. “However, our programming success is due to the dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge of our quality instructors.”

Programs may be offered on a weekly basis or as one-time workshops. Instructors set their own class schedules, title, content and topic subject to the approval of the Recreation Superintendent and dependent upon facility availability.

Anyone who has an idea for a program or an interest in serving as a program instructor is encouraged to contact Kelly Schurtz at 919-435-9559 or [email protected].
