UPDATE - Motorists urged to avoid area around North Main Street & North Avenue following single vehicle accident

***UPDATE: The utility pole was repaired and traffic flow restored just after 1:30 a.m.

 

Wake Forest Police are diverting traffic at these intersections following a single vehicle accident at North Main Street and North Avenue:

  • Northbound traffic at North Avenue and East Roosevelt Avenue

  • Southbound traffic at North Main Street and West Pine Avenue

  • Eastbound traffic at North Avenue and North College Street

At approximately 7:30 p.m., a vehicle veered off the road before striking and breaking a utility pole (see attached photos). No power outages have been reported, and there is no word on the condition of the driver.

Wake Forest Power crews are repairing the utility pole, but the work is not expected to be completed for several hours.

Again, Wake Forest Police are directing traffic around the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and choose an alternate route.
