Traffic Alert - Rogers Road

Friday, December 9, 2016 - 2:48pm

Fred Smith Co., a contractor working on behalf of the Town of Wake Forest, will close one of the southbound lanes along Rogers Road between South Franklin Street and Forestville Road, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 13-14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The temporary lane closure is necessary to allow crews to access a greenway bridge being constructed as part of the Smith and Sanford Creek Greenway Project.

Work on the project began in July 2016 and is scheduled for completion in December 2017. Once completed, the initiative will provide a continuous pedestrian facility that connects major activity centers throughout Wake Forest. The facility will consist of nearly four miles of greenway trail, just under one mile of sidewalk, and a multi-use path in the vicinity of Heritage Elementary, Heritage Middle, and Heritage High Schools.

A 2014 voter-approved bond referendum project, the Smith and Sanford Creek Greenway Project will also introduce new wayfinding signage.
