Traffic Alert – South Franklin Street

Friday, July 31, 2020 - 4:23pm

Cade General Contractors will close the portion of South Franklin Street from Yellow Poplar Avenue to East Holding Avenue on Monday, Aug. 3, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. The temporary road closure is necessary to allow crews to transport, stage and install Ting’s new prefabricated office building along the 700 block of South Franklin.

A signed detour will be in place directing motorists around the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible and take an alternate route. Please note: Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Electronic message boards announcing the detours will be set up this weekend to help alert motorists of the upcoming road closure.

The Town of Wake Forest provides this information as a public service. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through the work area.

Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, Town staff works with contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.

When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution, and obey flaggers. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers are also urged to double their following distances.
