Anyone interested in applying for an advisory board is urged to note the following:

  • Residents may apply for one advisory board only.

  • Current advisory board members are not required to re-apply, but instead should notify Cathi Pope at 919-435-9467 or [email protected].

  • Full voting youth seats are available on the PAC, TAB and UFB. An ex-officio youth seat is also available on the HPC.

  • The PRCR Advisory Board has three areas of interest: Parks & Recreation, Cultural Arts and Greenways. This year, residents with an interest in cultural arts are needed.

  • Only residents who live in Wake Forest or within its extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) are eligible to fill seats on the Planning Board and BOA. Candidates for these boards will be introduced to the Board of Commissioners (BOC) during the Board’s work session on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. Appointments will be announced during the BOC’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

  • Candidates for the HPC must either reside in the Historic District, in Wake Forest or within its ETJ. Professionals with historic preservation expertise are especially encouraged to apply for the HPC.

  • All candidates will be expected to attend the October meeting of the advisory board to which they applied to introduce themselves to the current members and explain why they wish to serve. Following these interviews, each advisory board will review its slate of candidates before submitting its recommendations to the BOC. The BOC will announce the advisory board appointments during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 21. New terms will commence in January 2022.

  • Selected applicants for all boards, except Planning Board and Board of Adjustment ETJ members, will volunteer for three-year terms, unless unexpired terms are being filled and advise the board on a variety of topics relating to the Wake Forest community. Selected Planning Board and Board of Adjustment ETJ members serve two-year terms.

Town advisory boards were established to give residents input into what happens in the community and advise the BOC on matters that affect citizens and their town government. For more information, visit http://bit.ly/TOWFAdvBoardApplication.
