Police investigating Saturday crash along US 1/Capital Boulevard
Wake Forest Police are continuing their investigation of a single-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday evening, June 1, along US 1/Capital Boulevard.
At approximately 6:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of an individual firing a weapon from his vehicle along US 1/Capital Boulevard in the vicinity of the Height Lane intersection. According to witnesses, the driver, who was traveling north, slowed down and fired several rounds in the air before veering off the road and crashing into a tree. The crash closed northbound US 1/Capital Boulevard for several hours before reopening just before 11 p.m.
The driver, who has been identified as Rashaud Tyrell Watson, 20, suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he is currently recuperating. It was incorrectly reported – not by Wake Forest Police - that Watson died from his injuries.
Wake Forest Police have obtained the following arrest warrants against Watson, 4202 Caplan Dr., Raleigh: three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, three counts of possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of discharging a firearm in the city limits. These warrants will be served once Watson’s condition improves.
Again, the investigation into this incident continues. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
