Labor Day Holiday Schedule
The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day. Police services will not be interrupted, but other Town services, including sanitation and bus service, will be affected. Town offices will re-open Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 8 a.m.
The collection of garbage and recycling for the week of Sept. 2 will operate one day later than normal and extend into Saturday. So, for example, Monday's route will be collected Tuesday and Friday's route will be collected Saturday.
Yard waste collection will be suspended Monday, Sept. 2, but will resume Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7 a.m. Crews will follow the normal collection schedule beginning with Monday’s route. Collection of the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes will occur throughout the remainder of the week until all have been completed. To ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, Wake Forest residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. Tuesday. Please avoid placing items on or near mailboxes, utility boxes, utility poles or other fixed objects.
Bulk pick-ups will occur Wednesday, Sept. 4. To schedule a bulk pick-up, complete the online bulk waste pick-up request form at http://bit.ly/WFBulkPickupForm or schedule a pick-up by calling 919-435-9570 by 2 p.m. Aug. 30.
Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message. All voicemail requests for bulk pick-up service must include the resident’s name, physical address, and telephone number, along with a description of the bulk waste items to be collected. Any service request that does not include the required information will not be processed.
When scheduling a bulk waste pickup, Wake Forest residents are urged to follow the Town’s bulk waste guidelines. Defined in the Town’s code of ordinances as “refuse weighing in excess of 75 pounds each,” bulk waste includes any item that does not fit in the Town-issued roll-out garbage cart. Examples of bulk waste pickup items include furniture, lawn mowers, swings, and bookshelves. For more information, visit wakeforestnc.gov and search “Bulk pickup.”
Go Wake Forest Bus Service, including the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop, will not be provided Sept. 2 but will resume its normal schedule Sept. 3.
Wake Forest residents are strongly encouraged to stay informed about the Town’s trash, recycling and yard waste collection programs, including changes to the normal collection schedules, by signing up for the “Waste Wizard.” Available on the Town’s website at www.wakeforestnc.gov/public-works/sanitation/waste-wizard, the Waste Wizard is an interactive tool that allows users to sign up for waste collection reminders and download collection schedules. As a bonus, the Waste Wizard is provided as a function on the Town of Wake Forest app. For more information or to download the Town’s app, visit www.wakeforestnc.gov/communications/app-download.
Residents can also receive email notifications concerning the Town’s holiday operations schedule by signing up for E-Notifier at www.wakeforestnc.gov/communications/e-notifier.
