A new and exciting feature of the 2018 Arbor Day Celebration will be a series of guided recreational tree climbs. Piedmont Tree Climbing's Patrick Brandt will conduct six tree-climbing sessions with six climbers at a time utilizing climbing gear used by professional arborists.

Designed for interested attendees of all ages and abilities, the tree-climbing sessions will be offered in 45-minute segments at the following times:

  • 11-11:45 a.m.

  • 11:45 a.m-12:30 p.m.

  • 12:30-1:15 p.m.

  • 1:15-2 p.m.

  • 2-2:45 p.m.

  • 2:45-3:30 p.m.

Again, each session is limited to no more than six climbers.

Interested individuals may sign up for a time slot at the Arbor Day event on a first-come, first-served basis or by contacting Julie Canavin in advance 919-435-9588.

Signage and maps will direct participants to the designated tree climbing location in Joyner Park. Registered participants are urged to arrive at the tree climbing location at least 15 minutes before their scheduled climb.

The climb is free, but participants will be required to sign a waiver.
