Holding Park Aquatic Center to close for season September 13
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department will close Holding Park Aquatic Center (HPAC), 133 W. Owen Ave., for the season at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. Despite several challenges posed by COVID-19, including a delayed opening, nearly 9,700 people have visited the facility so far this year.
From now through September 13, the HPAC will operate according to the following schedule:
Weekdays, 4-8 p.m.
Saturdays, 9 a.m.-Noon; 1-4 p.m.; 5-8 p.m.
Sundays, 1-4 p.m.; 5-8 p.m.
Labor Day, 9 a.m.-Noon; 1-4 p.m.; 5-8 p.m.
Due to COVID-19, the PRCR Department implemented several new policies and procedures at HPAC for the 2020 season. For example, open swim times are scheduled in three-hour blocks, with one hour in between to allow staff to clean and sanitize the facility, including deck chairs, door handles, hand rails and other high-touch areas.
In addition, a maximum of 120 patrons are allowed inside the facility during each session. Patrons must register and pay online for each session in advance at https://bit.ly/HoldingParkAquaticCenter. No walk-ins are allowed.
Also, in accordance with Executive Order (EO) 147, all HPAC patrons are required to wear a face mask or face covering, except when swimming or eating. Please be sure to wear a mask when on the pool deck, entering restrooms and interacting with others when you’re not in the water. The HPAC features a six-lane, 25-yard lap pool, two water slides with plunge pool and children’s pool with water play. Open during the summer months, the facility offers swimming to the public, as well as swim lessons and parent/toddler swim times.
