WAKE FOREST, NC – Weather permitting, on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 3-4, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, Wake Forest Power will reduce to two lanes the portion of Wait Avenue from North Franklin Street to Highgate Circle by shifting traffic and removing the center turn lane. Crews will also close the portion of Wait between Highgate and North Allen Road.

The temporary lane shift and road closure are necessary to allow tree crews to prune tree limbs and branches around overhead power lines.

Signage, cones, and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through and around the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Wake Forest Power works year-round to minimize storm impacts through preventive maintenance, including the trimming of trees around Wake Forest’s 110 miles of overhead electric distribution lines. Downed trees and limbs are the leading cause of power outages during storms but more importantly endanger the lives of utility workers and the public.
