Planning
The Town of Wake Forest identified the need for an additional fire station in the northeast quadrant of town in 2022.
Land was identified and purchased in 2023. In late 2023, a request for qualifications with design-build as the delivery method for this project was released. In February 2024, six responses were received and analyzed.
In August 2024, the BOC approved a design-build contract with ADW Architects and Edifice Construction.
Design
Design to include annexation, rezoning, a special use permit application and design development occurred from September 2024 through November 2025. Bi-weekly meetings occurred to weigh environmental recommendations, materials and design throughout the process. There are no stations throughout town that can hold the entire fire department for a meeting. While it was cost-prohibitive to build a training room to hold the entire department, almost half of the department will be able to learn and train together at the new facility.
Construction
Construction began March 2026 and is scheduled to last 16 months, with final completion expected in July 2027.
Project Overview
The new fire station, training tower, and training room will be situated on a 4.48 acre site off of Wait Avenue to help better serve Wake Forest's northeast quadrant.
