***Update – A Raleigh man is in custody following a lengthy standoff that began late Thursday evening and stretched into early Friday morning.
At 11:34 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, Wake Forest Police officers responded to a reported disturbance at the New Hope Village Apartments, 133 North Allen Road.
The female caller reported that Roman East, 3161 Groveshire Drive, Raleigh, made verbal threats to her and was intoxicated. Prior to officers’ arrival, East, 27, locked the woman out of her apartment with a juvenile inside. East and the woman had a prior relationship. The woman is the juvenile’s mother. East is not a parent.
For several hours, East remained barricaded inside the residence and refused to cooperate with officers, despite repeated requests from police negotiators.
At approximately 6:40 a.m., East exited the apartment and was taken into custody. The juvenile was released unharmed.
East (photo attached) was charged with felony second degree kidnapping and misdemeanor resisting a public officer. He was also served with an outstanding warrant for communicating threats from an unrelated incident. He is currently being held in the Wake County Detention Center.

***UPDATE - The barricaded subject situation at the New Hope Village Apartments has been resolved. The barricaded adult male is in custody, and the juvenile hostage has been released uninjured.

Wake Forest Police responding to barricade situation at New Hope Village Apartments
WAKE FOREST, NC – Wake Forest Police are responding to a barricaded subject with a hostage at the New Hope Village Apartments, 133 North Allen Road.
Officials say the barricaded subject is contained inside the residence and there is no threat to the neighboring community. Negotiators are on scene.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area and use alternative routes if possible.
