Wake Forest Center for Active Aging to host National Health & Fitness Day May 28

Monday, May 12, 2025 - 3:48pm

In celebration of Older Americans Month and National Senior Health and Fitness Day, the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging (WFCAA), 235 E. Holding Ave., will host “Move Today for a Better Tomorrow” on Wednesday, May 28, from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Free and open to community members of all ages, the occasion will focus on the health and well-being of adults 55 and over.

The event will include mini demonstration and fitness sessions centered on the “Move Today for a Better Tomorrow” theme. A balanced approach to "Aging Well" embraces all forms of “movement” as participants will discover and experience through sessions that include “moving” on the dance floor, “moving” clay into art, and “moving” with Activator Poles and nature. Experienced instructors will lead these activities to promote physical activity, creativity, and connection with nature.

Anyone planning to attend is encouraged to RSVP by calling the Northern Wake Senior Center at 919-554-4111. Please note: Due to National Senior and Fitness Day festivities, the WFCAA will not offer regular classes and programming on May 28. The WFCAA will resume its normal schedule on Thursday, May 29.

Established in 1963, Older Americans Month is celebrated throughout May. The annual event acknowledges the contributions and achievements of older Americans, highlights important trends, and works to strengthen the national commitment to honoring older citizens.
