WAKE FOREST, NC – The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is pleased to announce that Parks & Recreation Maintenance Manager Randy Hoyle recently completed Park & Recreation Maintenance Management School (PRMMS).  

Hosted annually in Wheeling, West Virginia, in partnership with the National Recreation & Park Association, the National Training Center at Oglebay, and NC State University, PRMMS is a comprehensive two-year professional development program designed to teach park and recreation maintenance professionals how to develop and manage a wide variety of maintenance programs. Participants attend classes one week a year for two consecutive years, with no additional work in between. 

During the first year, students learn to identify and recognize effective professional techniques of maintenance management. The curriculum is directed at improving the attendee’s professional maintenance management practices through session topics such as planning and organizing, financial management, communication, site security, and more.

During the second year, students acquire a broader knowledge of maintenance management and further develop specific skills for effective operations. Year two session topics include maintenance planning, contract management, career development, managing wildlife, special use facilities, emergency management, and more.

A native of Franklinton, NC, Hoyle joined the Town of Wake Forest in 2005 and in 2014 was named Employee of the Year. Prior to coming to Wake Forest, Hoyle attended N.C. State University, where he earned a degree in Turf Grass Management.
