WAKE FOREST, NC - Wake Forest Mayor Vivian Jones today announced the formation of a “Mayor’s Roundtable” to serve as a community liaison between the Town of Wake Forest and the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging (WFCAA). The announcement comes nearly four months after the Town assumed operational and programming responsibilities for the center.

“The WFCAA has always been a jewel in our community,” said Mayor Jones. “Our goal is to ensure it continues to be a welcoming, accessible, and vibrant place where our older adults can learn, connect, and thrive.”

In addition to Mayor Jones, the roundtable will be comprised of Commissioner Faith Cross, Friends of the Senior Center Chair Ann Welton, WFCAA instructor Maria Bolanz, and WFCAA members Buddy Glenn, Diana Turner, and Joe Grimm.

Mayor Jones invited these individuals to serve with review and input from WFCAA staff, based on their familiarity with WFCAA programs, classes, and events, and diversity of personal and professional experience.

The group is expected to meet on a regular basis. The roundtable will determine the schedule and frequency of the meetings, along with future opportunities for other WFCAA members to participate.

The roundtable’s first order of business will be to review and discuss the results of the WFCAA member survey. To date, over 400 WFCAA members have completed the survey which is open to members only through October 31.

“We want our members and staff to know we are taking their concerns seriously,” said Mayor Jones. “We’re all in this together, and we all want the center to be the very best it can be. By working together, we can cement the center’s legacy of service to seniors in our community.”
