To help voters understand the three bond financing questions, Wake Forest introduced a comprehensive public education campaign that made information available in a variety of ways.
In June the town created a 2014 Bond Referendum portal on its website. The mini-website provides detailed information about each of the bond items, their potential impact on the town's tax rate and a list of frequently asked questions.
Wake Forest also unveiled a four-minute 'In Focus' segment that includes recently retired Town Manager Mark Williams, PRCR Director Ruben Wall and Transportation Planner Candace Davis discussing important aspects of the bond referendum.
Wake Forest's registered voters also received in the mail a bond referendum brochure (shown below) that includes useful information about the three ballot questions, along with a few of the most frequently asked questions about the bond.
The town also included bond-related information in several issues of Our Town and RecConnect. Town staff also regularly posted information about the bond on its Facebook page.
Finally, the Town of Wake Forest is prohibited from using public funds to advocate for the bond referendums. However, town officials were available to meet with civic groups and community organizations to provide information and answer questions.
