Wake Forest Cares Holiday Kickoff returns to downtown Saturday

Monday, November 14, 2022 - 2:44pm

Help us ring in the holiday season and launch our annual holiday donation drive this Saturday, Nov. 19, during the Wake Forest Cares Holiday Kickoff. Free and open to everyone, this free family-friendly celebration is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. in downtown Wake Forest.

Promising a fun-filled afternoon for both children and adults, our Holiday Kickoff will offer a slew of activities and attractions, including award-winning ice carvers, roaming street performers, community performances, children's craft activities, and more.

The event will also feature a high-energy concert by Transit Vocal Band (TVB) from 1-2:30 p.m. along South White Street

TVB’s "all band, no instruments" tagline emphasizes their ability to recreate a captivating full-band sound using the power, versatility, and emotion of the most powerful instrument of all - the human voice! Complete with soaring leads, smooth harmonies, and a thumping rhythm section, TVB’s live performances combine raw vocal talent with the latest in sound technology to make contemporary a cappella music jaw-dropping and unforgettable!

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at downtown restaurants, while several food and dessert trucks will also be onsite throughout the afternoon, including La Katrina Tacos, Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Mama Churros, Baton Rouge Cuisine, and Southern Fried Lumpia Co.

Free parking will be available at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and along several side streets and parking lots throughout downtown Wake Forest and beyond.

In addition to ringing in the holiday season, the Holiday Kickoff will signal the start of the Wake Forest Cares Holiday Donation Drive. As part of this effort, we are inviting the community to support one or more of these Town-sponsored programs: Helping Others by Providing Electricity (HOPE), Northern Community Food Security Team, Shop with a Cop, Wake Forest Firefighters Foundation, and Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Scholarship Program.

All are working to address specific needs in our community – whether it be hunger, home lighting and heating, health, and fitness, and/or joy and hope during the holiday season and beyond. The Wake Forest Cares Holiday Donation Drive is an opportunity to demonstrate our support for these important efforts.
