Project Overview
The Wake Forest Reservoir Improvements Project partially funded by the Legislative Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program and the Town of Wake Forests Bond, will decommission and remove the outdated onsite water treatment plant and associated infrastructure, including valves, piping, electrical components, and nearby buildings. The project also includes evaluating and implementing critical dam repairs—raising the dam height by 2.8 feet and replacing the spillway—to enhance long‑term safety and performance.
These improvements will support expanded recreational opportunities such as walking trails, a canoe/kayak launch, and other outdoor amenities, while ensuring compliance with Town ordinances and State dam safety regulations. Located at 1143 Wait Avenue in Wake Forest, the project will involve approximately 8.3 acres of disturbance.
