The Town of Wake Forest is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals have equitable access to its programs and services. Although Wake Forest’s facilities have been designed, constructed, or renovated in compliance with applicable federal and state accessibility standards, the Town retained consultants in 2023-2026 to conduct comprehensive assessments of all facilities and sites. These assessments inform and maintain the development of Wake Forest’s ADA Transition Plan, which outlines and prioritizes the removal of accessible barriers.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is a civil rights statute that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. There are five separate Titles (or sections) of the Act relating to different aspects of potential discrimination. Title II specifically addresses the subject of making public services accessible to those with disabilities.
The ADA Transition Plan contains a checklist for each of Town of Wake Forest’s facilities, parks, greenways, and curb ramps that identify specific barriers and recommendations for their removal. In addition, the ADA Transition Plan outlines recommendations for our website and town-run programs. Any of the ADA Transition Plan checklists are available upon request.

What is next?
We will implement the Transition plan over the next 5 years. Many of the improvements are larger construction projects, but others we can do very quickly or have already tackled. We will track and report progress on yearly basis.
How to request an accommodation
We have several options for you or your caregiver to request an accommodation:
- Contact the department. If you know the department that runs the program, service, building, or space, contact them.
- Ask staff at Town facilities. They have information about wheelchair-friendly entrances, parking, and restrooms. They also have information about programs, services, and resources for people needing assistance in that building or department.
