Tri-Creek Greenway Crawl
Saturday, Sept. 30 ~ 1-4 pm
Foundation Drive Trailhead - next to Heritage High School, 1150 Forestville Road
The Town of Wake Forest and the Greenways Advisory Board will celebrate National Public Lands Day and the opening of 3.7 miles of new trails in the greenway system on Saturday, Sept. 30.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The festivities will begin at 1 p.m. with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the newly constructed sections of the Smith, Sanford and Dunn Creek Greenways.
The ribbon-cutting will take place at the trailhead near Foundation Drive - next to Heritage High School, 1150 Forestville Road.
The ceremony will include brief comments by Mayor Vivian Jones and other local dignitaries.
Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt highlighting several interesting features along the length of the new trails will follow the ribbon-cutting. Area residents may participate in the hunt through Monday, Oct. 30. Participants who answer at least 15 of the 25 questions will be automatically entered into special prize drawings.
The online version of the scavenger hunt is now available. The online version is also available as a function on the Town of Wake Forest app.
Paper copies of the scavenger hunt questions will be available during the "Tri-Creek Greenway Crawl."
UPDATE: Our winners were selected from all online and hard copy submissions received by Monday, Oct. 30.
Food
Big Red's Dog House and Lumpy's Ice Cream will be onsite at Smith Creek Soccer Center, 690 Heritage Lake Road, serving up hot dogs and cool treats.
Free Pedicab Rides
Free pedicab rides will be offered along the trails from noon to 5 p.m. The rides will depart from the Foundation Drive trailhead.
