  • Presented by Brightspeed Fiber Internet, Battle in the Forest is open for players ages 10 and older and will be live streamed on Twitch.tv.

WAKE FOREST, NC – The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department will host a free online Esports gaming tournament featuring the game "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" on Saturday, Dec. 6. Presented by Brightspeed Fiber Internet, Battle in the Forest is open for players ages 10 and older and will be live streamed on Twitch.tv.

Registration is open through Wednesday, Dec. 3, at https://wakeforestnc.recdesk.com/Community/Home (search “Battle in the Forest”). Please note: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is rated e10+.

Participants will compete in a one-on-one, single-day, double-elimination tournament to run in conjunction with "Bull City Gaming.” The matches will be best of three, while the championship match will be best of five.

In the event more than 32 participants register, the tournament will expand to two days with the qualifying rounds taking place on December 6 and the top eight participants battling it out in the finals on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The first-place winner will take home a new Nintendo Switch 2 Console + Mario Kart World Bundle, while the second-place finisher will receive a HORI Split Pad Pro Controller (Sonic the Hedgehog Edition). We will also award a prize to our third-place finisher, and as an added incentive, enter all players in two incentive prize drawings. The top three winners will also receive an Esports scholarship from Barton College Esports.
