Gas leak closes portion of East Pine Avenue

Emergency personnel are on the scene of a ruptured gas line along the 600 block of East Pine Avenue. The gas line was ruptured by construction crews working in the area.

Due to the ruptured gas line, traffic is blocked along East Pine from North Taylor Street to North Allen Road. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and choose an alternate route.

No evacuations have been ordered, but area residents have been advised to shelter in place.

Dominion Energy crews are working to seal off the leak, but there is no timetable on when the road will reopen.
