WAKE FOREST, NC – Wake Forest Police Officer J. Fuquay received the Driving While Impaired (DWI) Enforcer Award on April 30 during the 2026 MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) NC Awards of Excellence in Selma, NC.
The annual awards banquet honors individuals and agencies from law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and NC communities who demonstrate exceptional dedication to making a difference and go above and beyond their professional duties. Award recipients are devoted to MADD’s mission, passionately support their communities, drive innovative solutions, and uphold the values of safety, justice, and community well-being.
The Enforcer Award, which honors efforts to remove impaired drivers from roads and reduce fatal crashes, considers the number of DWI arrests made for the population size of the town. In 2025, Officer Fuquay accounted for 47 of the Wake Forest Police Department’s 255 DWI arrests.
“We are incredibly proud of Officer Fuquay,” said Police Chief Julius Jefferson. “Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs continues to be a leading cause of preventable crashes, injuries, and deaths in the United States. The Wake Forest Police Department remains committed to enforcing driving while impaired laws to ensure our roadways are as safe as possible.”
