Mental Wellness Fair

The Town of Wake Forest and several community partners will host the Third Annual Wake Forest Mental Wellness Fair on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 1-4 p.m., at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St.

Led by Commissioner Nick Sliwinski, the fair is designed to raise awareness about mental wellness and provide information on community programs, services, and resources available to loved ones who may be suffering from untreated or undertreated mental illness. Offering activities for children and teens, the event will also provide information for families, seniors, and veterans.

One of the highlights of the event promises to be a panel discussion on the pressure athletes and their families face. The panel will include the parents of Grayson Murray, a PGA golfer who died by suicide in 2024.

Several vendor advocates will be onsite representing local organizations, agencies, and non-profits that provide services in the areas of mental health, health care, social services, and more. These advocates will share information on topics ranging from depression and suicide to holiday grief, veterans’ services, and wellness.

In addition, the Town of Wake Forest and the Wake Forest Fire Department will provide free food – while it lasts, and the Ripe for Revival Mobile Market, hosted by the Northern Community Food Security Team, will be parked in the Renaissance Centre parking lot. Wake Med will also offer free blood pressure screenings, and a mobile barber will provide free haircuts.

The September 27 Mental Wellness Fair is free and open to all – whether you need help or want to know how to support those who do. Preregistration is encouraged - but not required - by completing the online signup form at bit.ly/TOWFMentalWellnessFair.
