Bulk Pickup

Bulk Waste ImprovementsBulk Waste Description

In  January 2021, the Town expanded what can be collected as bulk waste. Bulk Waste is defined by the Town of Wake Forest Code of Ordinances as items too large to fit in your trash cart and too difficult to take to the Wake County Convenience Centers.

Need to Know - Bulk Waste Collection

  • Bulk waste pickup is for items that can be disposed of in the landfill, but are too large to fit in the trash cart. If it is trash that can fit in the trash cart, place it in the trash cart. If it is a specialty recyclable item, please use Waste Wizard to determine proper disposal.
  • Have items at the appropriate collection location and properly placed and properly prepared per guidelines by 7AM the date of your scheduled collection.
  • Collection starts at 7AM on your scheduled collection day and ends around 5PM. On rare occasions, bulk collections may extend into the following day or may even be extended to the following week, with notification to the requestee.
  • If your bulk has not been picked up and you had your submitted item(s) out on time and prepared properly per guidelines, please complete and submit our Missed Collection Report form.
  • If items are removed prior to the scheduled pickup, please email the Public Works Department.
  • Neither Wake Forest nor the contractor is responsible for litter/debris that may be a result of bulk waste from collection. The requestee is responsible for litter/debris cleanup/removal that may be a result of the bulk waste collection.
  • Residents receive 2 FREE Bulk Collections each calendar year. If your address has already received 2 Bulk Collections in the calendar year, you will be prompted to pay.
  • Items that are not listed on your form submission will not be collected.
  • We do not accept move-outs, clean-outs, evictions, construction material, concrete, lumber, sheetrock, flooring, carpet, and more. Please review the "Not-Acceptable Items" area.

Quantity & Billing

Residents are limited to two (2) free collections each Calendar Year. Additional collections will be charged at $50 each.

This program is intended to help residents remove large and bulky materials. The program is not for large cleanouts or moveouts. Residents requesting collections deemed too large will be contacted for bulk collection rejections and asked to take materials to the Wake County Landfill or Convenience Centers

Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Materials cannot be disposed of in the landfill because of their caustic properties and potential for environmental contamination.

Wake County has established a collection program where residents can drop off these materials for proper disposal by a certified Household Hazardous Waste contractor.
