Samantha Sanchez is Town’s new Assistant Finance Director

Chief Financial Officer Aileen Staples is pleased to announce that Samantha Sanchez is the Town’s new Assistant Finance Director. Samantha was selected from a pool of over 50 applicants following an extensive interview process.

As Assistant Finance Director, Samantha is the Town’s chief accounting officer responsible for directing the daily accounting operations of the Finance Department and the Town. She also oversees general ledger activities, including accounts payable, payroll, and receivables, administer activities for the annual audit, and will facilitate the preparation of the Annual Financial Report.

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Samantha began her career in local government in 2016 as an accounting technician and later as an accountant in Franklin County’s Finance Office. In 2019 she was hired as Finance Director for the Town of Nashville.

Samantha graduated Suma Cum Laude from Meredith College in 2016 with a B.S. in Business Administration, a B.A. in Economics, and a Finance minor. That same year, she also earned Meredith’s Excellence Award in Business.

A “proud” Wake Forest resident, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and cat, as well as crafting, cooking, reading, biking, hiking, and running.

“Samantha brings a strong work ethic and valuable experience to this position,” said Staples. “I am thrilled to have her join the strong team in our Finance Department.”
