2022 Concerts in the Park set for September 4 & 11

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 - 10:53am

Spend a couple Sunday evenings in September with family and friends at E. Carroll Joyner Park, while enjoying some foot-tapping, finger-snapping good times during the 2022 Concerts in the Park. The Nigel Experience Band will headline the first concert on Sunday, Sept. 4, followed by Heads Up Penny on Sunday, Sept. 11. Free and open to everyone, both performances are scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Joyner Park amphitheater, 701 Harris Road.

The Nigel Experience Band is an exciting party band that specialize in the soulful sounds of Motown, Classy Party, Funk, and Beach Music to today's latest hits. Heads Up Penny is a five-piece band currently based out of Raleigh with influences rooted in Blues, Rock, Country, Funk, Americana, and Soul.

From 5-7 p.m. on September 11, the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Advisory Board will provide an array of organized games and activities as part of the 11th annual Wake Forest Unplugged. This free, family-friendly event offers area residents a unique opportunity to “disconnect” from their cell phones, computers and other electronic devices and “reconnect” with their community, friends, and family by engaging in healthier, more active pursuits. For more information about Wake Forest Unplugged, visit wakeforestnc.gov and search “Unplugged.”

For both concerts, attendees are invited to bring a picnic, leashed pets, a blanket, or lawn chair and enjoy the music. However, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and unleashed pets are prohibited at Joyner Park.

In the event of inclement weather, the performances may be relocated inside the Joyner Park Community Center, 701 Harris Road. Updated concert information will be available by 3 p.m. on the day of the concert on the Town website, Facebook page, and Nextdoor site and by calling the Wake Forest Weather Line at 919-435-9569. Smart phone users who have downloaded the Town app will receive a push notification message informing them of any schedule changes. To download the Wake Forest app, visit http://bit.ly/TOWFApp.
