WAKE FOREST, NC – Beginning Wednesday, June 17, and continuing through early July from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, Fred Smith Company, a contractor working at the future site of Wake Forest Fire Station #6, will close the portion of Bowling Forest from Wait Avenue/NC 98 to Fern Hollow Trail. The temporary road closure is necessary to allow crews to install two manholes and connect to the existing sewer main.

PLEASE NOTE: Wait Avenue/NC 98 will remain open. However, crews will continue to reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic the portion of Wait Avenue/NC 98 in the vicinity of Middlegame Way/Bowling Forest.

To minimize disruption, the contractor plans to backfill the trenches each day and cover them with steel plates. As a result, the roadway will only be closed daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists around the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid these areas and take an alternate route.
