- The interviews are scheduled as part of the Tuesday, Feb. 3, work session. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Board Chambers, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.
- Following the interviews, the Board will vote to either schedule a second round of interviews or appoint one person to fill the term that will commence immediately and expire in December 2027.
WAKE FOREST, NC – The Board of Commissioners has selected (in alphabetical order) Abby Black, Joan Falvey, Daniel Hupp, Nicolas Sliwinski, and Jasmine Zavala as the five candidates to interview to fill the unexpired term of former commissioner and current Mayor Ben Clapsaddle. The interviews are scheduled as part of the Tuesday, Feb. 3, work session. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Board Chambers, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.
The five finalists were selected from among 14 applicants via board member scoring. Each commissioner scored his/her top five candidates and submitted their rankings to the Town Clerk (by close of business on Friday, Jan. 23), who tallied the totals to determine the overall top five.
During the interviews at the February 3 work session, the five finalists will appear before the Board to explain why they wish to serve. Following the interviews, the Board will vote to either schedule a second round of interviews or appoint one person to fill the term that will commence immediately and expire in December 2027.
Mr. Clapsaddle was elected to a four-year-term on the BOC in November 2023. He then ran for and was elected mayor in November 2025. Mr. Clapsaddle was sworn in as mayor during the December 16, 2025, Board of Commissioners meeting leaving his seat on the board vacant with two years remaining on his unexpired term.
