Due to the anticipated effects of Winter Storm Fern, Wake County will open two emergency shelters at 3 p.m. today to provide residents with a safe place to take refuge.
They include:
Heritage High School
1150 Forestville Road
Wake Forest
Southeast Raleigh High School
2600 Rock Quarry Road
Raleigh
People taking shelter should bring:
- Prescription medications
- Special need items, such as eyeglasses, contact lens solution, hearing aid batteries, etc.
- Extra clothing
- Items for infants/young children, such as formula, diapers, bottles, etc.
- Cash
The shelters are pet friendly. Pet owners should bring all the items they need for their pet’s care, including medications, crates, leashes, pet food, cat litter and pans, etc.
Wake County continues to monitor weather conditions from the Emergency Operations Center.
Residents and visitors should monitor news reports and weather forecasts to see how the storm is progressing and better understand how it may impact Wake County.
