The Wake Forest Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will host Cemetery Preservation Workshops from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 326 E. Juniper Ave., and Saturday, Oct. 25, at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 245 Friendship Chapel Road.

Registration is limited and required by completing the online registration form at https://bit.ly/WFHistoricPreservation.

The HPC and Town of Wake Forest received a Historic Preservation Fund Grant to conduct Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and host Cemetery Preservation Workshops. Both workshops will have the same format and content and will focus on the use of GPR in cemetery preservation, identification of cemeteries, and cemetery maintenance and long-term care.

This project has been financed in part with federal funds from the National Park Service and U.S. Department of the Interior and administered by the NC Historic Preservation Office. However, the contents and opinions do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the Department of the Interior (DOI).

Participants should dress appropriately for being outdoors by wearing protective clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, hats, and appropriate close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).

Please Note: The cemeteries do not have accessible paths and may be challenging for those who have difficulty walking or moving around. Please contact staff to discuss concerns prior to registering for the event.
