***UPDATE - Due to the threat of inclement weather, Chief Jefferson's Meet & Greet has been canceled and rescheduled as part of the August 2 Family Movie Night at Joyner Park.
Newly appointed Wake Forest Police Chief Julius Jefferson will host a “Meet & Greet” to introduce himself and continue the process of engaging with the Wake Forest community on Saturday, July 19, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road. The occasion will be offered as part of Saturday’s Family Movie Night.
Chief Jefferson will be available in and around the Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) tent which will be set up just outside the entrance to the Joyner Park Amphitheater. Community members are invited to drop by any time from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to meet Chief Jefferson, ask questions, and learn more about his vision and priorities for the WFPD. There will be no formal presentation.
After serving as Interim Chief since Jeff Leonard’s retirement on February 1, Chief Jefferson was named permanent Chief on June 17. He was sworn in on July 1. His appointment caps a nearly 20-year tenure with the WFPD.
