Advisory Boards

The Board of Adjustment hears appeals of the Administrator’s enforcement or interpretation of the Unified Development Ordinance.  They may also authorize variances from the UDO given the request meets specific findings of fact.

The Historic Preservation Commission safeguards the heritage of Wake Forest by preserving districts & landmarks that embody important elements of the town's culture, history, architectural history, or prehistory.

The purpose of the Human Relations Council is to encourage understanding and good will between all Wake Forest citizens regardless of race, sex, religion, creed, nationality, or economic status, and thus promote the general welfare of the Town.

The purpose of the Planning Board is to perform studies and surveys of the present conditions and probable future development of the town and its environs, including but not limited to, studies and surveys of land use, population, traffic, parking, annexation, expansion of extraterritorial jurisdiction, etc. The Planning Board must also formulate recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on petitions related to zoning amendments, special use permits and major site/subdivision master plans.

The Public Art Commission advises the commissioners about public art projects, planning, and program management. They also recommends & implements public art policy and facilitates public participation, outreach, and communications concerning public art.

The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Advisory Board suggests policies and serve as liaison in matters affecting policies, programs, & the acquisition & disposal of lands and properties related to the recreational program, and to its long-range projected recreational programs.

The purpose of the Technology Advisory Board is to advise the Town of Wake Forest in all areas related to technology. We aim to spur economic development through technological growth by collaborating with business, industry, non-profits, public institutions, and citizens.
