WAKE FOREST, NC – Crowder Construction, a contractor working on behalf of the Town of Wake Forest, will temporarily close a portion of the Dunn Creek Greenway between Juniper Avenue and Ailey Young Park, 800 E. Juniper Ave., on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The temporary closure is necessary to allow crews to perform general maintenance and repairs. Signage and barricades will be posted to inform the public of the closure.
The work is expected to be completed and the greenway reopened by Friday, Nov. 6.
Dunn Creek Greenway Phases 1 and 2 begin at the Smith Creek Soccer Center, 690 Heritage Lake Road, and extend one mile north to the pedestrian culvert under the Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass. From there, Phase 3 added 1.8 miles of greenway connecting the existing greenway alignment to Ailey Young Park and the existing greenway network constructed in the Traditions neighborhood. Phase 4 added 0.62 mile of greenway connecting Flaherty Park, Orchards at Traditions, Flaherty Farms, and the Del Webb community. Now measuring nearly four miles, the 10' wide paved and boardwalk trail is designed for biking, hiking, or simply enjoying nature.
