The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Advisory Board will host the 14th Annual "Wake Forest Unplugged...Get Connected" this Sunday, Sept. 7, from 5-7 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road.
Wake Forest Unplugged invites area residents to disconnect from their smart phones, computers, and other electronic devices and reconnect with their community, friends, and family by engaging in healthier, more active pursuits. From 5-7 p.m., the PRCR Advisory Board will host a variety of organized games and activities, including sack and relay races, corn hole, and miniature golf, in the vicinity of Joyner Park’s Walker Garden. The electronics-free afternoon will culminate from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a free concert in the Joyner Park Amphitheater featuring the high-energy ‘80s tribute band “The Deloreans.”
Attendees are invited to bring a picnic, leashed pets, blanket, or lawn chair, and enjoy the music. However, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and unleashed pets are prohibited at Joyner Park.
As part of Sunday’s event, the following food and dessert trucks will also be onsite: Jolly's Catering, The Flat Drum, JAM Ice Cream, Cartel Tacos, and Tombachi.
In the event of inclement weather, these events may be canceled. Updated information will be available by 3 p.m. on the day of the concert on the Town website, Facebook page, and Nextdoor site.
