Wake Forest Power to discontinue use of door hangers to notify delinquent customers about service disconnections beginning July 1
Beginning July 1, 2025, Wake Forest Power (WFP) will discontinue the use of door hangers to notify customers with overdue electric bills of an impending service disconnection for non-payment.
For several years, in addition to calling and texting customers with delinquent balances, WFP staff have distributed door hangers at the addresses of those customers as another means of notifying them about the imminent disconnection of their electric service. Due to the escalating cost of producing the door hangers and the staff hours spent distributing them, WFP officials recently made the decision to discontinue the practice starting in July.
WFP will continue to call and text delinquent customers to notify them of an impending disconnection, so customers are strongly encouraged to ensure up to two accurate phone numbers are associated with their account.
Customers with delinquent balances can avoid service disconnection by contacting Customer Service and setting up payment arrangements. For more information, call Customer Service at 919-435-9478.
