Tree trimming to cause closures along Durham Road/NC 98 June 24-26
Weather permitting, Wake Forest Power will close portions of Durham Road/NC 98 Tuesday-Thursday, June 24-26, so tree crews can prune tree limbs and branches around overhead power lines.
On Tuesday, June 24, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., crews will close the portion of Durham Road/NC 98 from South Wingate Street to Tyler Run Drive. Signage will be in place directing motorists around the work area.
On Wednesday and Thursday, June 25-26, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, crews will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic the portion of Durham Road/NC 98 between Tyler Run Drive and the Wake Forest Business Park. Signage and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
Wake Forest Power works year-round to minimize storm impacts through preventive maintenance, including the trimming of trees around Wake Forest’s 110 miles of overhead electric distribution lines. Downed trees and limbs are the leading cause of power outages during storms but more importantly endanger the lives of utility workers and the public.
