WAKE FOREST, NC – Beginning Monday, Sept. 21, and continuing through Thursday, Sept. 24, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, the Town of Wake Forest will install traffic calming measures along the portion of Marshall Farm Street from Chalk Road to Rogers Road as part of a Traffic Calming Pilot Project. The initiative will allow the Town to evaluate several different traffic calming measures and their effects on vehicle speeds and traffic operations.
The project will include the installation of the following devices:
- A set of speed cushions
- A center median island
- A pair of choker islands, also known as bump outs, that will narrow the travel lanes
Following the installation of these devices, the Town will monitor traffic conditions and evaluate their effectiveness.
During the week of September 21, signage and cones will be in place to safely direct motorists around the work zones. Temporary traffic control measures may result in changes to the traffic pattern while work is underway.
Motorists traveling along Marshall Farm Street are urged to proceed with caution in the construction areas, follow posted signage and traffic control devices, and be prepared for temporary delays. Drivers may wish to avoid the area and take an alternate route.
Once construction is complete, motorists should remain alert to the new traffic pattern created by the traffic calming improvements and adjust their driving accordingly.
